We at Chantal Mallett have a lot of love for the straight talking, incredibly talented, visionary Amie Bone – even more so since getting to hang out with the whole Amie Bone team this weekend at The National Wedding Show, Olympia, London.
A few months prior to the show I was asked if I would design & create a peach tulle fairy gown & accessories to go with a secret garden theme & knowing just how phenomenal Amie’s previous stand was, I was 100% on board & loving the creative freedom of the brief.
As with all designs I created a number of sketches & presented them to Amie who loved the same sketch I did – a design which, after 20 years creating gowns & accessories, finally amalgamated the two into one design.
There was A LOT of complicated wire work to create but we knew it would be completely worthwhile. The design had a strong nod to butterflies with wings for straps & a butterfly motif in the center of the corset & the jewellery components of the gown took several weeks to hand make.
We were incredibly lucky that one of our favourite models Abigail Tara Lilly was in the country (between stays in Barcelona & Tokyo) & could breath life into all our hard work with her enchanting personality & fairy like features.
On Friday 23rd September with the scaffolding tower & buckets of flowers cleared from the aisles, before us stood a 5 meter high stand, covered in roses, hydrangeas, clematis, delphiniums…. in shades of peach, green, purple with touches of blue.
The floor: real grass, damp as though covered with morning dew. The tablescapes: fantasies laden with moss for tableclothes with touches of gold including gilt Duchess & Butler cutlery & in the center, huge golden urns full of blooms. The quirky chairs had moss seats, some with mirrors for backs, others floral backs decorated with stag horns. Everywhere you looked there were flowers; climbing the pillars, covering the walls & cascading from the ceiling.
At 10am, Abi stepped out of hair & make-up, courtesy of Team Glam, into Amie’s world & added that final touch of magic; a living breathing fairy. Sanshine Photography‘s camera clicked away & Amie’s videographer moved silently around the stand capturing the magnificence of the scene aided by a fabulous lighting scheme by Rendezvous Events.
For the next 3 days children & adults alike were drawn to the jewel at the center of the National Wedding Show to see this mesmerising garden & meet the fairy & at times with the amount of cameras pointing at the stand it felt like a perpetual press call at a red carpet event.
We loved this collaboration & thank Amie Bone for asking us to be part of her magical world – we wouldn’t have missed it x

It’s official, Chantal Mallett has been creating one of a kind, couture bridal gowns for clients for 20 years & to celebrate we have undergone a rebrand & relaunched the website.
But that’s not all, we also collaborated with some very talented creatives, also based around London, to create a new set of images for the relaunch & we’re sharing some of the shot’s not found elsewhere on the website here, along with the ‘behind the shoot’ story.
Have you ever had one of those days when you had something big happening, that needed all of your energy & attention but the day was such enormous fun & full of laughter & even when you get home & it’s time to go to bed, you can’t stop talking about it? Well, much like a wedding day, our day spent at Danesfield House, Hotel & Spa in Marlow was one of those days!
Driving through the Berkshire countryside at dawn in late February with the first hints of sunshine teasing us, my photographer Sanshine Photography & I, having motorway-ed it most of the way, had driven the last few miles to Danesfield House through pretty market towns & country roads before turning into their gateway.
There’s something rather exciting about arriving at a shoot, to a venue you have only seen in photographs. Number one, you are rather relieved that sat nav has found this quietly, inconspicuous entry to Wonderland & two, there is that childlike feeling of wonderment & expectation as you follow the tree lined drive to the front door & see another English jewel rising majestically in front of you.

The second moodboard we’ve created in the series is based on our Aurelia design & is an example of building a very elegant & luxe wedding day around the bride’s dress & colour scheme: Blush & Gold with a hint of pistachio.
More about the gown: This corseted bridal gown design is made in ivory silk crepe & features hand painted & beaded appliqué lace on the corset with pearl straps. The colours painted bleed from blush to apricot to touches of pink & the suggested decor & detailing on the board reflect the subtle, sophisticated palette.

We’ve decided to put some Wedding Inspiration mood boards together to inspire Chantal Mallett customers on how they could style their day around one of my magical designs.
The first board in the series is based on our Coquette design & celebrates one of Chantal’s favourite palettes: Pink & Gold.
More about the gown: Coquette is a flirty, pretty, princess gown; the corset is created in gold Solstiss lace, the ball gown skirt in shades of pink tulle. The theme built around this bridal gown design has period touches & reflects the luxurious fabrics & textures; Marie Antoinette meets Cinderella.

GILDED MAGAZINE – Royalty Issue – ROYAL KINK x
Last month we worked on & contributed to a really great editorial shoot with Umbar Shakir of Atomik Photography. We were shooting a moody, sexy mix of couture gowns & lingerie with some of our accessories. As the day progressed it really felt like we were shooting a very exclusive, private party – very ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ meets ’50 Shades’ meets ‘Belle de Jour’. We were shooting transparent dresses & lingerie with silk & tulle fishtails & sexy corsets & ball gowns. The whole look was high end & a little risque with opulent pearl chokers, silver sparkling head-dresses & masks.

Chantal was on set styling & the last shot of the day was her Coquette gown which she wanted to make sure really fitted with the whole vibe of the shoot, so she discussed with Suki about giving Kimi an edgier updo & decided to take the sash from one of Sonata’s gorgeous silk & lace robes & turn it into a blindfold to really make her the pretty bad girl.

What a great & happily exhausting day – the team was very diva free & all hands on deck & were all super happy with what they shot & Chantal got to style parts of her gowns with lingerie which gave them a different look & to try different pieces from the collection together, for the first time & they really worked well.
The floating Roxanne was created via a ladder & some cable (always fascinating to see behind the smoke & mirrors).

We are so pleased Gilded Magazine liked what we created & with Umbar’s super quick editing we made it into the issue just before deadline with the issue going live just two weeks after we shot!

Yesterday we found out the shoot Chantal worked on with friend & International Fashion Photographer Emily Soto had been published in US based Thrifty Hunter Magazine AND Emily forwarded Chantal another 41 images from the shoot & some of the images are amazing!

Now that the shoot has been published, not only can we share the images (so look out for lots more being added to various pages on the site), we can also introduce you properly to Valentina & the Opera Cape we made for Coquette & share with you our Dolce Vita design.

The model we worked with on this was a lovely Liverpudlian called Abigail Tara Lilly, who has the air of a young Lily Cole & is just so beautiful & sweet & looked so enchanting in my work; giving it a very delicate, fairy like quality which blended perfectly with Emily’s style of imagery.

So without further ado, here is Emily’s gorgeous fashion editorial in Thrifty Hunter:

EMILY SOTO @ CAPEL MANOR
Just a month after working with Emily Soto in Ireland, we were shooting again together. Emily flew in from NYC for the week & we shot with a beautiful model called Abi on a beautiful, warm & sunny, late October day at Capel Manor, Enfield. I know it well- I studied garden design there for three years & it made a wonderful backdrop. Images are under wraps for now but we shot some new pieces: Valentina, Dolce Vita with a huge black tulle skirt & Coquette with a matching tulle & lace opera cape, so come back soon for an update x.

SHOOTING IN IRELAND with EMILY SOTO
Emily Soto Ireland

This past weekend Chantal was involved with an Emily Soto workshop at Russborough House in Ireland.
Emily Soto is a very talented, well known NYC based fashion photographer. Emily was running a course teaching photographers her techniques & as part of her workshop she & the attendees photograph an editorialesque shoot.
Emily always uses wonderfully photogenic, gamine, delicate young models & shoots in a very romantic style that, quite frankly, Chantal has been a fan of for quite some time & has been keen to work with her. So naturally we were thrilled when she asked us to contribute accessories & gowns for her to shoot!
Chantal took a few select pieces out to Ireland for the shoot & was met with a sunny, warm, perfect Irish September day – her first experience of Ireland.
Emily is fabulous & the shoot team were top notch, we just know we have some great images coming our way & that Emily will have created some wonderful photographs.
